aRRRGGHHH- A pirate party for me....

Some families are proper, dull, and no fun! However, Davey's extended family is far from boring. Davey's Great-Grandma turned 89 this past Saturday and my Aunt Janice (aka Captain Hook) decided there should be a theme to the madness. Davey could not have been happier that she choose mutiny on the high seas! He was in his element and properly dressed (thanks Cptn. Jack Sparrow) for the festivities. He got the treasure, danced with the mates, and even sailed the seas in the pool later in his skull & crossbones underwear. The party was a great-success and Davey got to polish his skills for his Pirate Birthday party coming up in September and for Halloween. The year of the Pirate is upon us! Join us if ye dare!!!!

Lesson learned!

So, no new pictures, but I pulled 1 from last weekend. We had a fab-u-lous weekend!! Spent the 103 degree Saturday by the pool at Whitewater (this really was our last trip this season) and it was great when you were in the water- but don't get caught bare feet on cement....aaawww.. I relate it to a hot coals episode! Then we had a great time at our church picnic on Sunday. They had a dunk tank, lots of food and let us not forget the jumpy thing for the kids. I actually did not see much of Davey, b/c he spent 90% of his time jumping. He has a little girl that he has bonded to in his Sunday school class named Katherine. She is blond, blue-eyed, and she and Davey hold hands ALL THE TIME! I don't think I ever see them not holding hands! Well at the picnic they spent a good portion of time jumping and holding hands. Man... where's the camera when you need one! But a relaxing weekend and fun with my boy.
This week however has seemed a non-stop go..go..go! Let me paint the scenario for you... Davey's Godmother, Gini ran into a person from a modeling agency. She gave the lady my phone and information about Davey. I didn't think much of it at the time, but spent the next few days playing phone tag with this girl. She invited Davey to a consultation with the agency and to be honest all I thought was-" I am not putting any money into this!" We had 30 minutes to get to Midtown Atlanta at 6pm after work- and she stressed you could not be late! What a scam it all is! First of all there was about 50 kids in the room, none of which were as young as Davey. Then they sit you in this room for 25-30 minutes watching a video that was not in any way, shape, or form geared toward Children & my 3-year old was having none of it. Then this agent (who was somewhat charming, but very arrogant) goes thru the what to and how to... and I'm like he's 3!! What does a 3-year old know about acting, movies and Hollywood. Obviously this is for children that have a talent they are wanting to flaunt or have been doing pageants and such. They give you this sheet to fill out and it asks the 10 reasons you want to be in show business. I found this an appropriate place to put as many humorous lines as I could think of in that 25 minute period. Answers like: "my child can kick Johnny Cash's *** in Walk the Line", Captain Jack Sparrow is his Hero and he knows all his moves, and he can fall down the stairs in socks and underwear better than most stunt actors. Anyhow- after another 15-20 minutes of the talking combined with my lack of patience with Davey's lack of patience- saw us out the door! He said, "Wait Mommy, why are we leaving?" My response was, "Davey, they lied. Captain Jack Sparrow is not coming!" He seemed content and I made up the time by going to get an ice cream with my personal favorite little actor!
LET YOUR CHILD MAKE THAT TYPE OF DECISION- is my lesson today!

Weekend of Fun

Some weekends there is nothing to do, but this weekend was a non-stop activity fest. It started on Friday, with a trip to the waterpark, probably our last for the season, and then a Friday nite ice cream date with my little man. Saturday Mommy had to work 8 hours, but don't think that stopped us from fun. After work we headed over to Stone Mountain to ride the train and catch the laser light show. Davey was up way late, but crashed on the way home.
After Church, it was onto the Braves Game with Matilda, Davey's nanny. On this super hot Sunday, we had pretty decent seats, saw a few innings and then headed up to the kids area and let Davey run the base, and again, and again, and... finally it started to sprinkle rain which allowed for no more running of the base! We headed home on the Braves shuttle and then the Marta!
So you think it's over.... oh no! There was a little temporary fair not far from our house and as we drive past it every morning, Davey points it out the rides and mentions that he "sure would like to go!" What's a mom to do? So with the last $4 in cash (without hitting the ATM, again) we ventured to the "circus" as Davey calls it, and he got 2 quick rides on rickety equipment- but he thought it was the best!
What a weekend. Exhausted comes to mind, but a continuous smile on my little boy's face is worth it!
