As we sat waiting for the parade to pass by and not to mention drenched in sweat from the record hot day, I realized this wasn't Davey's 1st parade. Last summer he saw his 1st Mickey parade at Disneyworld. This one was however, a more traditional community activity, no fabulous show and no costumed creatures.

Summer Fun...well, sort of
OK, so you haven't really heard the fun adventures of Jen & Davey this summer... well there haven't been that many. It seems that every time we try and set up a fun activity it rains or better yet... lightining and thunder storms.
On this particular evening, we were set to go a-movie-in-the-park to see "the Goonies" with our friends Kim & Cole. But, about 20 minutes before showtime- BAAAAMM! WASHOOOOO! BAAAAMMMM! These were Davey's sounds exactly as the storm closed over us!
So- no movie in the park for us. Just a trip to the movie store and then the movie in the comfort of your house with popcorn included. Maybe another day.

4th of July Sparkler
Another 4th of July has given us a great reason to relax for a day or two. We did have a chance to take in some pool time at our friend Kim's, friend's neighborhood pool. It was around-a-bout way to get a day of fun in the sun, but the slide and adult swim times made me a believer on imposing on friends. They had actually laid it out nicely with games for the kids and a giant buffet of festive foods. And did I mention the best part was that it was mostly young or mid-aged couples with kids- and they were in need of beverages too! What more could you ask for? A bigger supply of Mojhito's maybe?
Then it was onto our own little feast of every type of July 4th food one could ask for. Kim & I invited several friends and neighbors and had a fun time. Most of my time was spent on the grill and Kim's was in the kitchen. However the drinks were flowing and food was tasty. Davey had fun with Cole and Micha. They ran, swang, played and ran some more. We did not venture out for fireworks, but instead opted for some sparklers and watching the neighborhood skies. Wish we had just a few more fun days like this in summertime!

We are now the proud parents of....
TADPOLES!
Yes, it's just what I have always wanted. Along with 2 jealous cats, a overweight guinea pig, and a lasckluster fish we are slowly becoming overwhelmed with creatures. Davey's sitter Carla has been filling in while his nanny, Matilda, has been out of the country for the past month. Carla and Davey go on fun adventures around Atlanta. They ride the MARTA train and the bus lines, walk to the park, visit the museums and hang out at the library.
On one particular day, they caught tadpoles in a stream in a few mason jars. They came home and implemented a tad pole pool in our back yard. They are actually cute little things, however my concern is that tadpoles grow into frogs... and Jen doesn't like frogs.
So as these little tadpoles are eating oven-dried lettuce and growing very fast- Davey is on constant tadpole watch. He wakes up in the morning immediately wanting to check on them and then tells them good nite before we head up to bed. Carla has taken charge of the tadpole care and has promised that I will not have masses of frogs attacking me when I walk onto my patio. Most of them will have to be re-transplanted back to the pond when they get older because we have no water near us. But you never know, we may keep 1 or 2.
Farewell from the Walker Zoo.

...to grandmother's house I go
When your child is young you want every minute of every day. However, when your child is 4, you realize you need Mommy time. Davey headed off to Knoxville for a fun-filled week with his Lou & Poppy. And fun it was... not only did he have the pleasure of attending business meetings with his Poppy, he also got the experience of researching land contracts at the county courthouse. WAHOO! Beat that Adventure!
But the true fun of the week was the trek up to Cherokee, NC and the stay at Harrah's casino. Bummer that children are not allowed to gamble, but the pool was were they took refuge. Lou said Davey was so waterlogged he was swimming in his sleep. The next day it was off to the river to ride his tube on some rapids. And all this without Mommy at his side! But great times with his grandparents and wonderful memories to look back on.
Pictures to follow as soon as Lou can figure out how to download!
